Park Life, Newsletter from the People and Parks Foundation
May 2010

Dear Supporter

Many of the 200 presenters and keynote speakers at the inaugural Healthy Parks Healthy People Congress reinforced the People & Parks Foundation’s important message of the health and wellbeing benefits of making parks an integral part of your life.

Giving young people the chance to explore the outdoors was fundamental in most of the presentations. In this vein, a reminder for all those who would like to learn about camping but don’t have the time or the equipment – our Urban Camping program kicks off this weekend.

While autumn means cooler weather, what a great time it is to be in the park – kick out the cobwebs by kicking through some leaves in the park!

Kind Regards,

Jenny Holliday

CEO

Healthy Parks, Healthy People

Healthy Parks, Healthy People

Congratulations to Mark Stone and his staff at Parks Victoria for the outstanding success of the inaugural Healthy Parks, Healthy People Congress!

The drawing together of park, health, medical, sport and outdoor professionals and practitioners focused attention on key health debate issues. They reinforced the need to find alternative and proactive solutions to problems that are costing billions across the planet due to poor health, rehabilitation of degraded ecosystems and restoration of habitat destruction.
